[Ra...]
I have a part that has a similar chimney(cone) as shown in the image below. My question is this , If the process is creating chimney slightly tilted ( non normal condition) , what type of alignment or method can I use so that as it goes around the chimney and makes the correct adjustment for the tilt so its catching the bottom edge the whole time all the way around. Ive tried using a circle mid way for x and y origin location and then the plane at the top of the chimney for z. Is there something else I can try to improve this calculation?21.jpg
[Ro...]
So if im understanding your question right, you have a cone and the angle is not always square. Try scanning 2 cones, scan 1 at say 25% & 75% distances, Calypso should find the A1 and A2 angles, then use that cone to set your rotation in a secondary alignment. Now you can scan your 2nd cone (set to that alignment) all the way to the edge and it SHOULD follow the off angle. But im thinking, if you're trying to get a diameter at a cone and a plane, can you use an intersection to get that diameter? Just be sure to click on "Shell" on your cone feature inside the intersection box.
[Ch...]
What about scanning lines instead ?
[Da...]
You can move the scan lines a little bit in from the edges. It doesn't change the dimensions of the cone. Are you trying to check the cone at a reference height ?
[Ra...]
Ive pretty much scanned 4 lines down the sides of the cone. How do i properly recall these points to output the max od from the point data set?
[Er...]
I'm not sure what you are trying to measure. If you need to measure at the base, take a plane on the flat at the base. Make that an alignment. Then measure a circle on a cone.
[Ma...]
Can't you use Cone Calculation to get the diameter at the bottom plane to get your largest diameter?
