Compatibility between programs written for different heads

If i get a second machine and it has a XT head, will I be able to run the programs I have written on the RDS XXT head? I do understand that angled head locations won't work with the XT . Will a change of probes be enough to run the program on the other machine ?

Super simple, just use feature settings editor and group change Stylus systems and Styli to the new.
I had to do this years ago because we had only 1 Zeiss CMM in our facility, but the facility an hour away had a similar machine. One customer wanted us to have "A backup plan" for their high volume, high dollar parts to be inspected if something were to happen to our machine. It never happened, but i spent a lot of time at the other shop installing and running test pieces on an XXT machine that was written for an XT.

One bonus is that XT machines can scan planes and od's MUCH FASTER than XXT without air scanning errors, so you can potentially shorten your cycle times.

You can actually have multiple strategies in a feature.

I wrote a program that can use the XXT head or the XT head with the corresponding cookbook speeds for the different heads.

It also allows you to select a different Stylus System and Stylus for for the 2 strategies.

In the run screen you will get an extra drop down to chose what one you want to use

This is an Advanced topic but a really cool one for people who have different head types.

One program to rule (run) them all 🤣

How do you get that drop down option for multiple strategies in the editor? we have 3 different heads so this would help a ton!
