Another Short Arc Segment

Recommended Posts

Looking for ideas to get a good BA on this part. Part shifts approximately 1 part length in Y.

Spatial: Top Plane
Planar: Symmetry Const. (2 side planes 22.5° apart)
X Origin: Symmetry Const.
Y Origin: OD
Z Origin: Top Plane

What do you think about a 3D Best Fit alignment?

I would always prefer to measure as a circle, so my first attempt would be to use a 2d-Curve, and allow it to Best-Fit in the X,Y (Translation), and the Z (Rotation). Tell it to create an alignment from that, and measure your 4-5 single point circle inside your Curve Best-Fit Alignment - constrain the location.

You can also use Free-Form and create a Best-Fit Alignment as well, and measure multiple circle paths if you want.

Good luck.
If I'm reading the Ops post correctly...
I would create an intersection at each of the four corners.
Then create two Symmetry points at Y- and Y+
Project the symmetry points to the top plane.
Create a 2d line from Y- to Y+.

This gives a centerline and a tertiary.
That's just for a base Alignment, which doesn't need to be ultra precise, you just need to define something exists in that portion of the volumetric area.
