[Lu...]
hi Zeiss community, need you assistance on how to use auto-run on a O-inspect vision system, my problem is that when trying to make the auto run program with the camera, first part runs ok, but sub sequential part do not line up. no issues when using touch probe system, just when using the camera. fairly new to the camera system, most of my experience is on touch probe system. any help or tips are truly appreciated!!!!!!! [No...]
Which version of the base alignment did you select in the start parameters? Manual or CNC version? I recommend manual. What kind of part are you measuring? Flexible or rigid?
[Lu...]
we are running the CNC alignment (automatic base alignment on main program) we are trying to run several parts, without the need of a operator doing manual align. on each part, and qc inspectors do not have access to the program, only autorun access. part are plastic on a fixture. best regards
[Dy...]
Could be the search distance window on the camera isn't large enough vs the search distance on the probe is hence why probe has no issues

What I was trying to say is that there are two versions of each base alignment: The one that was last measured by hand and the one that was measured by the last CNC run (has extension ...(CNC) ). If you use the (CNC) version to start an Autorun measurement and something goes wrong during the alignment (which may happen more often with flexible, deformable parts), the next part to be measured may fail because it is started with the wrong alignment from the previous run. [Dy...]
Are the parts just plastic no metal? could also be a lighting situation that needs modification?
[Lu...]
Please sign in to view this quote. we use regular base alignment, no CNC, I end up adding a loop and it got better, but found out is maybe the fixture holding the part. It seems that is compressing a tiny bit, therefore, slightly off on location. thanks for the valuable feedback!
[Lu...]
Please sign in to view this quote. the parts are plastic, and the holding fixture out of clear acrylic; to use also the back light if needed. like I stated before, not a lot of experience on vision system, but kind of cheated, using a OPG smart scope to get lighting values close. 🤣 🤣 thanks for the tip!! [No...]
Please sign in to view this quote. If you can't play with the search distance (size of blue AOI) it often helps to measure reference points at a lower magnification and to recall them to a reference feature (e.g. circle). This is often possible even without proper focus. So if for example you have a round part, select the lowest magnification and measure 4 points around the part with backlight and the biggest possible AOI size. Out of the 4 points recall a circle. Then either use it as the X/Y zero in the base alignment or reference it in other features with formulas. By doing this you can eliminate the offset caused by the fixture and still measure other features at high magnification. The same method is possible for backlight autofocus points at edges. First measure a reference point at low magnification and a big search distance, then reference the X/Y in the autofocus point with formulas.
