[Da...]
Like I said its been years since I have had to use models and I need some feedback. Typically I load a model, Translate and rotate to get the model in the right orientation. Most of my parts are a block with various cavities and bosses on one side. X/Y are usually centered of the outsides of the block, so I usually use a line on a plane all around the outside and select symmetry lines for X/Y origins and planar rotation. The bottom plane for Z zero and rotation in space. All Good ? I usually run a loop on the alignment and run it complete before proceeding. Now I add space point groups all over the targeted areas, assign a tolerance and run the first group. Arrange the cad Evaluation and develop a cad view with banners and save off a cad view and presentation. Then I move on to the next group. I break it up like this so I don't have to completely rearrange anything that isn't acceptable to the Tool Makers. This all seems to work quite well. If you know of any ways to speed this up or simplify , please let me know. Going back a decade or possibly two, there was talk of associating the points to the model. This attached the points to the model, so that any changes would not affect the space points location. Is this still a thing? Does anyone know how to do it? If they want to take .100 off the top to fix an error can I just rearrange the alignment to account for the missing stock? This comes up with electrodes for EDM mostly.
