[Mi...]
Whats the difference in Align Of Feature and Base Alignment in the true position box?? When I go in and ask for a TP calypso seems to default to Align To Feature. Never really paid much attention to it until today. I do not use a lot of TP around here... [Jo...]
I've not noticed that. In case you haven't seen this feature, You can select your Datums, and then "save as" a named set. After that, it will be in the drop down menu.
[Cr...]
Align to feature will automatically pull whatever alignment you have called to for that feature.
[Mi...]
Sounds good. I just leave it on Align to feature then....
[Ri...]
Unless you properly build the alignment using the can/may/must rule, then you will possibly see differences between alignment of feature and if you manually built the DRF. Also typically the Base Alignment doesn't follow OTE and/or ISO5459.
[Jo...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Richard, is there a provision for custom DRF ? I think ASME Y 14.5-2009 onwards allows it, but I don't see how to implement that without using alignment to do so.
[Ri...]
No - you would have to use an alignment to achieve that. I am not opposed to people using alignments for their Positions/Profiles - I do it a lot myself. I just see a lot of people, fresh or not using the Base Alignment as their DRF and their Base Alignment is not built correctly to match their DRF as noted on the drawing.
