Does Calypso forget stuff for you too?

I'm at a new place that I worked at before. I am using a contura G2 with an rds head 2021. I use a lot of cad presentations. They love space points here ! So we store a PDF of each part that's checked in a job folder on a separate drive. I group points adjust a view and save as a cad presentation. A typical part will have 3 or 4 cad presentations They save as a single PDF and are sent to the results file . Seems pretty straight forward.

Here is the problem, After running a few parts, I get into a rhythm and load and start the next pc while the machine builds the cad presentations. so once its done I can hit start and be on my way. However, some times there is no PDF produced ! It can run fine for 10 pcs then the 11th doesn't work. I can rerun the part without clearing results and it spits out a PDF ! Any clues on this????

Also as the part runs , it stalls while building the cad presentations. It stops at retract distance and waits till it flashes a preview of the cad presentation on the screen, then goes to clearance plane and proceeds. ????

Dave,

I can't speak to the second issue about stalling. However, I do see the first issue daily. It may be a handoff issue between Calypso and PiWeb, but I'm not sure. I usually generate two reports, one using the StandardProtocol template and one using PlotProtocol. Often, the StandardProtocol doesn't generate, so I have to run a subsequent evaluation to get a report. I should probably put in a support ticket for this. If I were in a high volume production situation, I would make it a priority. Right now, it's just very annoying.

It is VERY annoying !
The second problem, the stall, actually makes some sense. If it went to a clearance plane to "build the cad presentation" I would assume the part was finished and probably tried to remove the part.

Is this results folder on a network? are the PiWeb templates on a network?

I only ask because I have had similar issues in the past. It was like the CMM was outrunning our network speed and causing errors.

The problem was fixed by putting all PiWeb templates on the local CMM computer AND saving the results to a folder local to the CMM computer. I then use batch files to move the reports to our network and also to sync PiWeb templates across all CMM's.

I like that approach, Chad. It's almost like, "let Windows do Windows and let Calypso do Calypso." I'm going to try to implement it.

Yes Calypso seems to get ahead of itself. 🤣

With Measured Points turned on in Results to File a Subsequent Evaluation should work. The only issue I have had is Calypso crashing. I now test programs with Subsequent Evaluation in Simulation.

Even worse is when you try and run "subsequent evaluation of several measurements". Like say you wanted to regenerate 100 parts reports at the same time.

If your results files and piweb templates are on the network, then doing this is impossible and Calypso will bug out every time.
