Different Alignments

Does anybody have resources on the different alignment methods?

Standard and Start Alignments I understand.

RPS I understand, at least in it's use for something like a cast part with Datum Targets.

What really is the difference between 3D best fit and Geometry best fit. I have the Zeiss Advanced Training Manual on my lap but it doesn't really explain.

3D Best Fit uses point-like elements: Spacepoints, Circles, Spheres, etc. (for Circle/Sphere centerpoints are used)
Geometry Best Fit uses features: Planes, Cylinders, etc.

Michael, for example, we have a part that has one surface profile (to itself) callout using multiple
elements. I import those elements into the GBF and create an alignment from them for the evaluation.

RPS can be used for tooling balls also.
