Cylinder Gradient Slope

Is the Gradient Slope the same as the metric Thread pitch?
Say i have a M5x.8 thread, do i just set my start height and put .8 in the gradient slope to match it for 2 or 3 revs?

Or am i missing something?

I usually just use a self-centering helical scan with 450 degrees of rotation and 1 second point masking. This avoids the possibility of entering an inaccurate number in the gradient.

Yes. If I am measuring a circle, then I use -0.8 for my start, then I put in 2 revolutions and then 0.8 for the gradient. Or, the opposite. 0.8 for the start, then 2 revolutions and the -0.8 for the pitch. As long as I leave the Right-hand Thread checked, it doesn't matter.

If you're doing a cylinder, you'll need to play around with the start and number of revolutions, but always check that the gradient is at 0.8.

Well i have a customer that is using the (P) projected tolerance zone in a true position on a series of threaded holes, so i need a cylinder to be very accurate and straight.
