Piweb Basic Cad Model

I have learned how to add the mesh model in piweb basic. How can I use the model. When I look to add add the model, the it seems the option isn't available. Is this something I can't use without having Piweb plus, or SBS?

It is highly customizable. Also not intuitive. All we have is Basic PiWeb. And I know almost nothing 😃

Using Dynamic Image load the CAD. If PiWeb loaded data it will be in the Data Provided tab on the left.

If no data is loaded then exit back out of PiWeb to Calypso.
Three options:
1.Go back into PiWeb and it should ask you if you want to update the Characteristics, I always hit YES.
2. Run subsequent evaluation
3. CNC Run

I'm not seeing an option to even load the CAD model? What am I doing wrong?

There is no option showing to add a CAD model.

Adding a CAD image to a report is a central feature for modern measurement reporting software. Zeiss should make it ultra simple. It should be as easy as clicking or dragging a toolbar icon from the top of the screen. Don't make it some child/parent/derivative-laden super complicated feature buried somewhere in the software. Come on, Zeiss...

It's not hard to add a CAD model at all? ...
- Add placeholder "frame"
- Link to model in database
- Roll/pan/zoom to the view you want

Open a blank report template, I'm using NewProtocol_Landscape.ptx as my starting point.

Click and drag an Image placeholder from the Toolbox tab. Resize it to fit your area.
With the Image placeholder still selected, go to the CAD tab (last tab on the left).

Then click the little + button -- the report needs to know where it's getting the CAD from. You can upload your own STL, but a copy of your CAD model is saved to the PiWeb database automatically, usually the first time you run the program, so I usually will use "From Additional Data".
Double click on it, or click and drag to the Image placeholder.
Once the model is imported, double click on the object to roll/pan/zoom the CAD, change the wireframe thickness, colour, and so on. When you double click on the model, you'll see Blue spheres where your characteristics exist. When you commit changes and click off of the active CAD window, you won't see them anymore.

Thanks, Laura! That's exactly what I (and possibly Eric) was looking for. I admit I was incorrect in my comment above. I really need to take a PiWeb course, and I plan to do so.

One more question... do you know how to get rid of the blue "pins" on the CAD model? I can get rid of their description but not the pins themselves. Thanks,

Are the blue lines showing up even when you de-select the CAD object? Or if view the report in Monitor?

For me, when I am actively engaging with the CAD object, the blue pins show up. But if I click onto any other object, or just click outside of the CAD object, they go away. You also shouldn't see them when you view the report in Monitor, instead of Designer.

If you hit F11, or press the little play button in the top right of the Ribbon - this will open the report viewer. Do they still show up?

Hopefully once you de-select your CAD model in Designer, or view the report in Monitor, you aren't still seeing the pins. Let me know.

Now, the blue pins can be very useful for creating links to items in an area of interest on a CAD model (in Designer). To activate leader lines, right click on the CAD object and select "Activate MIBA line target". Then you can click and add items and have them automatically link to where the characteristic is on the model.
