measuring torus

Recommended Posts

I have a feature that I need to measure that has 118 degrees of arc.
I need an accurate diameter and R2 of the torus.
If I start adding restrictions to X, Y, Z I can get R2 to read better but I am concerned it is a false positive since the Radii is critical.
Is 118 deg enough to not restrict?
I generally dont like less than 90 degrees.

When I am questioning a critical size on a small (less 90 degree) arc, I will evaluate it as a profile as well. I want to see what the surface is doing, compared to the model. Usually I am finding that it's machined correctly, and i am getting inaccurate size data. You can also restrain to the diameter nominal, and review where your X,Y,and Z measure. The truth will be somewhere between the two restrained measurements. Once you find the true center of the diameter, you will be able to report the accurate size.
