[Be...]
I am trying to measure the distance between two theoretical lines built from intersecting planes. I am getting a result that makes sense to the problems my engineers are having, but I would like to isolate the distance at various points along the intersection. Is that possible? Attached is a screenshot of the part. These lines should be parallel to each other and to datum A which runs down the center axis of this cylinder. A Caliper Distance in the X IS - 0.8591, SB - 0.8400. Is this giving me the max deviation? I don't have the option to choose between max and minimum, it's just allowing center. Would it be possible to evaluate this at different Y locations/points to show my engineers exactly where the deviation is in this part? Or would another evaluation method be more appropriate? Thanks Ben Brownscreenshot.JPG
[Cl...]
It looks like the planes are almost perp to one another? I was thinking that you could measure a line on each plane on both sides equally spaced along Y in several locations, intersect them and get a distance. [Be...]
I will definitely give that try - thanks!
[Da...]
You could put in a few theoretical planes, Intersections of planes to the lines at various distances and ask for the distance between intersect points. Is this line the intersection of a cylinder and another cylinder ???
[Er...]
I use three planes. Two measured, one theoretical. Create an intersection point. Same theoretical plane could be used for both sides.
