[Jo...]
I've searched and can't find the threads. I know both topics have been covered. Where is the machine max speed stored ? I have a Contura G2 and program shows 250 as top speed when I believe it is 350-400. The probe changer routine seems slow, is this parameter controlled ? [No...]
The maximum speed is stored in a parameter in the controller (per axis, so actually 3 parameters). It is possible to manipulate these parameters with the proper software, but I wouldn't do that. Well, I actually DID it many years ago on our good old MC, but I couldn't gain much more speed (around 20 mm/s) before the drive belts began to slip. If Calypso shows you a considerably lower max. speed than is stated in the tech specs, there may be something wrong with your CMM settings. Otherwise you should contact Zeiss support about the issue. [Ow...]
Think it would reduce it even slower than 250 but, I know if the mode switch (most have a key in it) on the control box is turned to Man (not auto), the speed is greatly reduced and it will also show reduced in the measurement plan editor, travel, speed menu. [To...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Hey John, I don't know that I've ever known of a G2 to be faster than 250. I think later Contura machines do 300. I could be wrong.
[Jo...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I can input 300. I believe you are correct. The probe change routine seems slow, but I didn't run this machine before the last software update.
[Jo...]
Please sign in to view this quote. This is not the issue. Maybe my memory is... I thought it used to have a higher speed before a software update. 2018 was installed over an older version. I'm not after max speed , but thought it might influence my probe change routine speed. I think those are parameter or percentages , and are not visible to me.
[No...]
The probe change speed is usually (always? sometimes?) controlled by macro scripts, which are also stored in the controller. From the moment when the probe head is positioned in front of the rack, the macro takes control and handles the whole change process, until the point when the probe head has come back out of the rack. So the speed used for travelling between storage bays is controlled by Calypso, but everything inside the rack is part of the macro. I don't know if these scripts are declared as part of the controller firmware or if Calypso may modify (update) them under certain circumstances. I doubt the latter however.
