In this day in age, titles and responsibilities change like clockwork and I'm curious, if you care to share yours. What's your job title or somebody you know who works in this fields title?
CMM programmer?
Quality technician?
Quality Engineer?
Superman?
I've been around awhile and I'm tasked with so many different types of things that I don''t believe there's an all-in-one conclusive title out there but, maybe there is?

I'm introduced as our "Lead CMM programmer" although I was the only programmer for a long time.

On a few occasions, I've added "Measuring Hero" to my email signature....

I program more then cmms, I also develop software that are used for several fields. But I think my official title is "quality controller". And I do nothing that fits that title 🙂

Quality Manager/Head of quality.
My job is split between doing our quality management which includes NCR reporting, audits, continual improvement and supporting our CNC technicians when having problems in manufacturing.
So CMM programming is only around 10% of my job.

Currently its "Lead CMM Programmer/Quality Inspector L3" but it can be anything these days. The work I do here is what the Quality Engineer job description is.

Quality Engineer Supervisor

In charge of our entire quality processes/ inspection/ disposition.
Programming is a small sliver of the day to day I dictate.

Basically I tell people I fix problems for a living.

CMM Programmer

then they have whats called "Subject Matter Experts" of several things around the shop, it carries Zero weight to be an SME of anything, but im also SME of the Helmel manual CMM and SME of the Keyence Vision machine. so dumb! it just means that if anyone needs help on something, they go get that person.

Over the summer we had a whole bunch of college interns working here, they mostly worked on getting our new robots loading and unloading machines, and that led to possibly the best new title ive ever heard of, "Automation and Industrial Internet of Things"
