Evaluating overall profile

Hello,

I have fairly common callout of overall Profile .016 ABC

What would be the most efficient method to report this using no calypso addons (i.e. no freeform, no curve)

The method I have right now is to define all individual features and apply profile to them. Then I can recall the minimum and maximum results from all those profiles and combine them into a range to report because our customer likes ranges on overall profiles (e.g. I get a result like .0003-.0113)

The downside is that the cmm report can have 100's of profile characteristics reported and make it many pages in length. I have tried masking profiles and leaving the minimum and maximum results unmasked but calypso does... interesting things with that sometimes.

Is there a quick dirty way to overall profile these parts?

Unfortunately the method that you proposed is the only way to do it on a CMM without Free-Form. Make sure you mark the characteristics, and hide them in the Multiple Printout window.

Most people use 3d scanning when it comes to true all-around Profile measurements.

I use knowledge of the processes to pick points into a General Surfaces feature. i.e. a milled rectangular surface - a point near each corner, etc. But your customer may be more stringent.

Under GDT Profile you could pick "bilateral-two results" to get the high and low.

And having form, fit, and function information helps a lot with customer expectations. It's hit or miss whether we get it.

Good luck!
