Projection + distance issues

Hello all,

I'm trying to setup the characteristic to check the 0.51" distance from the angled bore projected to the surface to the straight bore's mid point and I'm having a heck of a time trying to get this to come in. What is the best way to project the angled bore to the surface? Right now it looks like it's projecting straight to the surface instead of angled towards the surface.

project both cylinders onto that plane, then measure 2d distance from the resulting circles(if using shell feature) points if using centerline.

I've never been fond of intersecting angled holes like the one you're trying to do. Particularly when having to make adjustments for machinists. If the angle has too much variance, it's not a good representation of what's going on with the location.

We also have to report dimensions like this but when it comes to it, I report it at nominal every time.

I look at it as the print is telling you to offset to that .051 and then rotate to the 13° to check the true position/depth, so when it comes to the .051 & 13° basics, I would only report the 13° from the cylinder I created and then put the .051 at nominal on a report.

I'm interested in what everyone else does with these as well.

IDK what the datum structure is, or if you could get it to report the additional data for that TP . Either way, those are TARGETS not dimensions. I prefer not to report that on FAI submittals, but will report in house..

Ahhh, my issue was I was trying to use circles to intersect with that top plane. Once I switched to a cylinder, everything came in like it should nominally in the distance dialogue box.

Thank you everybody for your help!
