Error Message when starting Calypso

Sounds like Calypso isn't communicating with the controller?
I would start by shutting everything down. Calypso, CMM, PC.
I think that's a good place to start.

Try unplugging and re-plugging the cable between the controller and computer and also make sure the joystick box is connected securely.

I have a possible lead on the cause of the error. Right before the error happened, I created a new stylus system in Calypso. I'm not sure how this would cause Calypso to crash, though.

I used to get some weird error if somebody would power the machine down with the Z axis clear up on the stop., You had to pull it down GENTLY by hand before starting.

My screen looks the same as what you have circled, except the numbers in the second column are different than what you have (shown in the link). What does that mean?3295_ded645e444c165b1bb316c46c9a51880.docx

Those are the Process IDs - do not worry about that.

You might have a corrupted machine tab.

Can you create a new machine tab, and see if the machine connects?

I did that and then plugged everything back in and started Calypso. And I got this error message "No connection made with CMM". 3295_4fb98426f756c55bae32908d0559814e.docx
Then after I ended Calypso in the task manager and restarted Calypso, I got this other error message "Interface Open Connect Error" .3295_054930f6f3c323462d16f5658c9b7bb3.docx

I actually don't know what a machine tab is. How do I make a new one? Are you referring to the plug on the blue cord?

No, sir.

A machine tab is the connection of the software (Calypso) to the controller of the CMM. In Calypso go to Extras - Settings - CMM.

You are going to make a copy of this, so it's important to setup it up exactly like you have it now. The CMM Type, measuring volume, Probe head, if it has a Rotary Table.

Another thing to check: If your machine connects to the controller via a network switch, check if that device is still working (should have some lights on it, some probably flashing to show data activity). If the switch dies, you can't connect to the controller anymore.
A switch looks like this (probably not that big):

Another thing is to ping the controller i.p.
open a command page.
windows icon lower left,
search box
type "cmd" no quotes
hit enter
type ping 192.4.1.200
You should get a response back. whether or not then type "exit" no quotes.
This should at least tell you if the computer sees the controller

That worked. Thank you. But now the system isn't recognizing the master probe when I connect it to the arm. 🙄 3295_21e3372b3233e27899b459195486c5df.docx

The first time you build a new machine tab it will create a MasterProbe for you.

Caution, you need to correct your reference sphere to match what is actually on your machine.

You should have a book that has information on your machine. On one of the first pages is the calibration of your reference sphere, you need to correct the radius, and sigma value to match what the calibration says.

It turns out- I didn't need to correct a radius or sigma value- I just needed to eject the master probe, enter simulation, reattach the master probe, and then exit simulation.
