Everything Moving after Reopen

We've been experiencing this problem with basically all plans created on our newest machine, running 6.2.12.

When we save, close, and reopen a program (typically the next day), everything (model and features) has moved relative to the base alignment. Often, if we are not going to make any changes to the program, we can just ignore it. On rare occasion, it keeps the program from running correctly.

This happens even when we are opening it on the same machine.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Base Alignment instability is not the issue. This is happening with basically every inspection plan we create on this machine.

Shabu,

Given Aaron is one of the more knowledgeable people here and was here helping people on the forum years before you were, I think it is safe to assume he knows how to properly construct a base alignment.

Taking that aside, if you read his original post you can see this is happening to him on all programs, but only on one machine.

Perhaps you could explain how one base alignment for a given program being unstable would effect other programs?

Or how a base alignment could be stable on one machine and not another.

Aaron,

How much is it moving? Could this be a mechanical issue with the machine (ie. something moving?)? Nevermind - after re-reading it seems your saying its moving inside the program relative to the base alignment. So yeah.. I am stumped.

It is impossible to to reply someone statement after analysing that person level of knowledge in the field, personally I don't know anyone in this forum, you might know that person.

I had only a bird eye view in his question, I think I should have read it two times.....

Hey Shabu, Aaron is a seasoned Calypso Programmer and one of the guys many of us look to for solid answers. If you suspect the Base Alignment, why not suggest what it is that could be wrong with the Base Alignment. It's kind of like saying "my car won't start" and saying "check the motor."...lol

Sorry. I did not take the time to see someone had already made a similar comment.

I believe that I've seen something similar with this before. It might be a faulty Calypso installation.

I have seen this issue before if I move the base alignment, and then save the program. I can usually fix it by moving the CAD model under the CAD model transformation by the distance between the old base alignment and the new base alignment. It hasn't re-moved after I did that to the program.

It could be an issue with Win7, since Zeiss and Windows are now no longer supporting 7.

I noticed it on Windows 7 using Calypso 6.8.04

John,
Thanks! You may have hit on it. I know these programs are being built from a file we're using as a template. As such, if the programmer isn't specifically creating a new base alignment so that the BA name matches the program name, there would be duplicates.

Thanks for the thought!

I was wrong. That was not the issue. Once again, I'm stumped as to why this is happening.

Sheesh, some of you give me too much credit. I'm definitely not above overlooking something that should be obvious...

This is just a little brainstorm.

We have seen our antivirus software causing faulty installation of Calypso. Putting certain files in quarantine.

Is it a problem that were on the computer from the beginning?
Is it every single program that does this? What happens if the program is saved and opened again after 5 minutes?
If it were saved under a new name?
I know that a local company had some issues where computers had a reset once a day causing them a lot of trouble. Could be sn issue nit related to Calypso.

Aaron

Just a thought, since you are using a template is there any way a alignment move could of been added to the template. I’m thinking a PCM command or moving an alignment and then overwriting, or naming the saved alignment the same as the Base Alignment name.
