clearance group for compound angle entry

Good morning all! I am programming a manifold block that has a bore on each end that is on a compound angle that I must send a probe down to measure. There is a small counterbore at the start of it which I am able to measure with out an issue, however when I try to send the probe in further to check the main i.d. of the feature it wants to crash outside of the part. My head is at A-25B77.5, and I have the clearance group set to X- for this feature. I am not privy to any way that would set the clearance plane so that it aligns with the feature if that makes sense. Any input would be greatly appreciated. The large blue circle is the feature, and the small blue circle is about where the probe wants to crash. Thanks!!

Not super familiar with it. I did find a work around that works, at least in this situation. If I put the aproach clearance say at 1.5", it moves to the face, then enters the hole in the a direction inline with the hole. Not sure that is the best way, but it worked. How would I go about using CMM position points?

Open the strategy section of the corresponding measure. Adjust the probe to the center and slightly behind the hole diameter. then press the button on the right arm in the joystick to add the CMM position to the bottom. You must set this after Clerance data.

When you have a feature like this that's not orthogonal to the base alignment what is the "correct" thing to do? (if such a thing exists)

Do you create and qualify a new stylus system that has an A&B angle that matches the feature? I've been relatively lucky so far with having mostly prismatic parts, but its just a matter of time before this comes up.
