Secondary alignment question

I have part that requires a secondary alignment to pull points in the correct vector direction.

It's basically my base alignment rotated -15° about Z.

When i create the second alignment I am selecting all the same features that my Base Alignment used and using Special -15°.
The problem with this is that it now has to remeasure all those features to create this new base alignment, despite the fact that they having already been measured for the Base.

Is there a way I can use the already measured Base Alignment features for my new alignment so that it don't have to measure twice?

If I'm understanding that you want to rotate a previous alignment by 15 degrees in the same measurement plan you just need to create an alignment

1) Select Resources
2) Select Untilities
3) Select Alignment
4) Using pull down tab select the alignment you want to rotate (in this case Base Alignment)
5) Select Special
6) Select Rotate by an angle
7) Select axis and enter angle you need to rotate
8) Click OK and close the Alignment window


This won't require the features to be probed a second time

I believe if you just leave the boxes blank in the secondary alignment editor, it will reuse existing values from the base alignment.

Strange that it would be probing the alignment features again, I use base alignment features in secondaries for simple rotation a LOT and Calypso just recalls the existing data. Are you defining new features on the same surfaces?

In this case, though, if all you're doing is rotating the base alignment then both Adam and Michael are right.

This is the magic sauce I was missing! I was selecting all five elements again in the new alignment, which makes sense that it was then reprobing them all. I didn't realize there was a pull down to reselect my previously defined alignments which I could then special.

Are you using "Use Current" for your alignment?
If so then your alignment is not being taken at the start of the program.
