[To...]
I understand this is a bit "off topic" but has anyone ever seen, or know of a source for, a ceramic cylinder used for calibrating machine tools?
[No...]
One source I found: https://www.microplan-group.com/en/prod ... ts-ac.html Does it have to be ceramic?
[To...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Thanks Norbert. I found the same website. We're looking for a local supplier here in the US but would consider going outside US if only option. Due to the size, ceramic is a much lighter and easier to handle option. Obviously, more stable from a temperature point of view.
[Ow...]
I've seen them used to tram in lathe axis but, would work for anything I suppose. In my experience, a ceramic square is generally used on milling type of machinery but, I could see using both too.
[To...]
It would be used primarily for setting up Fanuc Robo-Drills and other milling machines before we ship them to customers.
[Ow...]
Taking the cost of ceramic and the damage that would incur if it was dropped into account, I'd be inclined to looking at some the newer laser methods. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odBi0cmIBYA
[To...]
We do use laser on some applications but they're only using this gage to check the tram of the machines.
