[Ca...]
I have a part with a 0.500" square post that's a datum. Does Calypso have any feature recognition for a square? I'm currently just scanning each face, and creating symmetry planes of the left/right and top/bottom, then intersecting the symmetry planes, and call that intersection my datum. [Ro...]
Please sign in to view this quote. That's how I've handled it in the past. But yeah it seems like there should be a way to recognize a Polygon of any given amount of sides. a while ago I wrote a program for a sister plant looking for the TP of a small hex. i ended up scanning it as a circle with pretty good results compared to hard gauges.(hex is done on a 2nd op and isn't clocked to some other features) luckily the end costumer doesn't have a receiving inspection cmm, so they wont be questioning my methods. I wonder if you could scan a square post as a circle. nominal diameter being the average between cross flats & cross corners, speed very slow. probably not worth the hassle..........
