[Me...]
I am trying to make a simple measurment but can't seem to get it right. I will attach a picture of of The measurment I'm trying to get. Mainly a measurement that is perpendicular to a tiny plane to my zero intersection. See PDF. Thanksperpendicular measurment.pdf
[Ma...]
Create a intersection at the point and measure the small plane. Add a Cartesian Distance selecting the point as feature 1 and the plane as feature 2. In Cartesian Distance the distance between a point and a plane will make them perpendicular. [Cl...]
Not a very wide plane, how long is it? Spread the plane points out as far as you can, spatial rotate and Z origin the plane, then intersect the corner for the1.6967 in Z, should be that simple, unless I'm missing something? [Cl...]
Oop's, I think we were typing at the same time.
[Me...]
Mark, I'm using Calypso 2018 it seems buggy. I picked the intersection for the first feature and when I go to the second feature the plane isn't listed. If I go back to feature 1 and change it to the intersection, then I can select the plane. The nominal value for this Cartesian distance is Right 1.69668, but the actual is 2.02207 and when I run the program it says the measured value is 1.46380 in piweb. When I ran the program it measured the 2 planes that make the intersection and the small plane . And those were my results. Am I missing something? [Ma...]
Because the plane is so small you might want to create a new alignment at the intersection and rotate it to the planes nominal angle. Now take a point on this plane and use the Simple Distance characteristic to get the proper distance, making sure to change the alignment from base alignment to the new alignment. [Me...]
You may want to create an intersection, a rotated alternate alignment, take a point on the plane, using your alignment for the point and get your Cartesian result.
