Curve problem

I am scanning several 2d curves. All curves have the same settings; step width, retract/approach, comparable speeds. The only difference that I can see is that they are all different lengths. One of the shorter curves scans fine, but when it's done scanning, it stops, doesn't go the +Z clearance, add activates the red light. I am at a loss, as to why? Any ideas?

Did you check the vector direction? That catches me off guard sometimes because you just don't expect it to be in the direction of the model.
