[Jo...]
Morning All, Looking to understand what other users have had experience using when it comes to CMM software specifically. I have had experience with Measure Max but my company, at the time, quickly got on board with Calypso. I have been using Calypso it since. I do like Calypso and feel it is very user-friendly and capable. I wanted to post this topic for others to share their experiences. Is Calypso your first software? Is it your preferred software? Would you be open to learning other software if your Job required it? Or are you a "Name that brand" programmer?
[DW...]
I cut my teeth on Calypso for CMMs, but in the last years have also had quite a bit of Zeiss Inspect X-ray Pro under my belt. Both good software, love the Python editor in Inspect.
[Ri...]
I don't recall the first software I used; it was a manual CMM. I was the first employee to write programs for operators to check parts. Basically, the programs were instructions of where, what and how many points to probe per feature. Then they bought a small Zeiss Vista with RDS Sensor and TP20. From there I branched out into UMESS, GeoDMIS, PCDMIS and CMM Manager, finally deciding to base my programming career on Calypso. And 25 years later, here I am.
[Ma...] Posted yesterday at 03:47 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:47 PM The first Zeiss CMMs I used started out with COMET which was the American version of UMESS 200 written in HPL on the classic HP 9836 computers. Bevel gear software for was called GAGE for both measurement and machine correction at that time. Next was UMESS 300 in HP BASIC for Zeiss CMMs and Höfler gear measuring machines Then UMESS/UX with Gear Bevel Finally Calypso with GearPro
[Da...] Posted yesterday at 07:08 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:08 PM I started with MCOSMOS/Geopak from Mitutoyo, PC-DMIS 3.5/3.7/4.1, U-Soft Solid/Saphir, then Calypso (which is for me my favorite) and finally WM Quartis from Wenzel. Every software has its pros and cons, but the most grey hair I got from U-Soft Solid, although it's quite powerful if you get over the first few years without a heart attack.
