[Jo...]
Hey All, I have a large hemispherical probe on my Prismo (Vast) that I would like to integrate into the probe rack. The probe diameter is 30mm and it will not clear the probe rack unless it goes under it 5mm or so then back up. See the attached diagram of the desired path. Now I am pretty savvy with approach parameters, but I have not had the pleasure of using the "define path" options. I imagine this would be method to do so. Can someone provide some insight into the best approach? I get limited time on the machine, and I do not want to cause downtime from a crash. TIA! [Ma...]
This would be safe using extension in Z axis to avoid those jumps - i think whole sequence is "hardcoded" - aka non editable.
[Jo...]
I did think of this as a viable option. I was really hoping this was possible though before I ordered anything.
[Mi...]
When I was in training I was told about a situation that was exactly this and it was apparently able to be dealt with via the approach parameters and such. I don't know how to do it, but I've heard it's possible if that helps.

[Cl...]
If you open the approach parameters and hover over each of the four Z options, it says: "Position (+) above or (-) below holder level". Where the problem comes in is testing it. Without knowing for sure, there could be a crash. Edited February
[Jo...]
It was my understanding that the "offset" values corrects any misaligned placement. It will update the Holder XYZ location or the default location after holder alignment. I don't believe this can help me unless I misunderstand the function. I just need to clear the probe holder not offset the holder location.
[Ri...]
I've had to do this multiple times before. You will just need to define a path Before Change, and the reverse of that After Change. It's pretty straightforward - just click on the Define Path Button, and you can either manually drive the machine to those locations and click on the Read Position button, or you can just manually define the positions. [Jo...]
This worked like a charm Please sign in to view this username. thanks for the help! One important thing to note that I discovered by chance. After I added the define path steps, I saved the rack assignment, and when I did this, it lost the defined paths I just setup. I almost had a crash but stopped it intime. This could be a bug, but I have not tried to recreate this.
