Radius Length? Looks like Profile of a Line

Recommended Posts

So, yes to me i am seeing arc length also. So measure like curve as in recall the 2 small diameters and the larger diameter also and report a curve length? Sorry i have been teaching myself curves had the basic class back when it first came out. So i am trying to get up to speed. Thank you on the information.

I am not sure of start and end point - but it can be done with single curve. From customer side - i would like to see two marks like for curves indicating boundaries.
It's drawn like it should include part of smaller radii.

On Calypso there is "Curve length". Is that drawing comming from customer or your internal designers? Rather ask, than report wrong results.

Also, if you have a model, then you can try to investigate - model should be made as nominals from drawing, so you can create curves and try to find out what is close to 11.106 inch( 282.09mm )

Thank you for the information. I was trying to pick this up 2D for the length. I was getting 10.86 with 2D, i opened up the 3D model and started with the curve and i was getting 10.987 with Curve Length. So i was able to accomplish what you were helping me with. This is a customer drawing, comparing Radii to Radii cuts. It was not so much the length we were looking for but the large Radii to compare. Much appreciated learned Curve Length and hopefully i will be able to get into the curves class again and refresh my memory some.

If you need arc length you can use a formula to convert the Chord Length that you'll get from a Polar 2D Distance or Caliper distance, depending if it's from the centers of those circles or edges

Result Element formula...

=(rad((arcsin(CHORD_LENGTH/DIAMETER)*2))*RADIUS)

=(rad((arcsin(CHORD_LENGTH/39.882)*2))*19.941)

Thanks Micheal.

As for the arc length, if it was a Profile of a line, it would be inside an FCF.

Attached is an example of arc length (Note the dimension is curved, it doesn't have to be shown curved).

The Arc Length requirement is shown with a tolerance.
