VAST XTR GOLD - adapter plate and probe socket compatibility

In an effort to keep this short and direct, I am looking to get some verification from anyone out there that uses the VAST XTR Gold sensor. This is in regard to which probe sockets, and which adapter plates are compatible with the XTR probe head. My understanding the following 3 statements are true. 

1. When using an XTR Gold probe head/sensor there is only one compatible probe socket that will function with the head which is the VAST XTR probe change socket (600644-8600-000)
2. VAST MT adapter plates can be used on the XTR Gold probe head/sensor and can be held by the VAST XTR probe change socket.
3. VAST XT/VAST Gold probe change sockets DO NOT work with a XTR head

Long story short we are trying to purchase a CMM, adapter plates, and probe change sockets. Our regional Zeiss sales reps are trying to sell me / tell me that I have to use VAST XT probe change sockets (600660-8365-000) with the MT adapter plates and need to use the XTR probe sockets with the XTR adapter plates. I straight up told them they were wrong / disagreed with their information, but would like some quadruple verification that what I have stated above is true.

You are 100% correct.  You will find that the MT probe socket will not be an available option when adding a new socket to the rack.

I think it's great that you're interesting in finding optimal solutions for XTR Gold probe heads.  You were right to question the feedback you were given that claimed that only Zeiss OEM part# 600660-8365-000 could be used on VAST Gold sensors.

One solution that I love to use for VAST probe sockets is made by itpstyli.com and features laser-engraved indexing marks that assist with setup.

They have become my standard for use on Zeiss Prismo cmms.  Itpstyli also has a few other models of adapter plates that work with VAST Gold sensors.
