Sound levels and or frequency ranges

Are there sound levels and or frequency levels that need to be monitored for CMM's with the VAST XT (circa 2005) and XTR (circa 2022) sensors?

We have a new assembly equipment that runs large hydraulic pumps, they are quite loud (120Db+), the CMM lab is close and enclosed possibly reducing the Db to half? This is one of several planned for the area near this lab.

With the sound there may be a frequency level created by the sound.

Any information is helpful.

Hello Richard,

i found this for a Contura:

But that's only for "working conditions", you might still have an influence in your accuracy.

Best Regards
Marcel

I can't speak to sound, but vibrations in the floor is something to consider too. They had a CMM about 30' away from a press, in a room, and we couldn't run probe calibrations or have the tech do machine calibrations with that press running.

It did fairly quickly get moved, but if you can feel the vibrations in the floor, there's a good chance the CMM will too, even sitting on the isolators.

🤣 Exact same thing here. Tech would show us a plot and you can see each cycle of the press. We had to shut down the production presses to get through the calibration.

We also had the CMM relocated.

Hey I think I know a way

you need a calibrated probe

open an empty inspection plan goto CAD - CAD model Control  - Show probing object
Zoom in and get closer to probe tip as red sphere until to see only entire sphere on your Calypso monitor , after enough zooming you will start to see that red sphere is shaking

try to draw maximum displacement by using a pen directly on the monitor which you can compare it with the scale just standing right corner in Calypso

Do another repeat when hydrolics were off and compare results
