Can you create a line from a characteristic evaluation - Curve Dist

Good morning all,

I am looking to see if it is possible to create a line based on the minimum distance between two curves using the "Curve Distance" Characteristic. 

See the attached image.

Have a minimum distance line created in the CAD window. I want to use the line created between the two points to do further calculations. Is this possible?

I could not figure out a way to create two points in the same location to simulate how the calculation works in the characteristics.

You should be able to construct a 3d line by using the two points created by a Minimum or Maximum coordinate. pull each curve into a Min & Max coordinate. Using the nominal feature option.

I did try that, but it was just a min/max relative to the coordinate system and not relative to the relationship between the two curves.

What about opening two-point features and recalling individual opposing curve points into each one from each

of the two curves? Then recall those constructed points into a 3d line?

I understand what you mean, but the software doesn't provide any insight into the points being used for this curve distance evaluation. I tried a formula to see what I could extract from the curve distance characteristic, but it only gives me the option to select XYZ and actual. 

I am starting to believe it's not possible.

Are you trying to construct a line parallel or perpendicular to the curves?

Could you try recalling a specific curve point, e.g. point 150, check the box for Curve result points (Filtered,...), then recall the two points into a 3D line?

I thought about this as well. The only problem is that the evaluation doesn't give me the point # to try this.

I have to admit, that i did not fully gained both points - perhaps wrong curves - but i've made two copies of distance of curve, where i swapped features ( curve_distance_1: 1c / 2c || curve_distance_2: 2c / 1c ) and set both on same ( min/min || max/max ) - then you can use formula to obtain X,Y,Z for a point ( using curve_distance_1 and 2 to get 3d line )

I don't know what author needs.
