[Do...]
Just wanting to know what my options are for measuring distances when I do not have "caliper distance" in our version of CALYPSO. We are running an older version, and I am hoping that there is something that can be used other than "cartesian distances".
[To...]
Curious as to why you don't want to use cartesian distance.

I have just heard that so many people prefer caliper distance over cartesian, so I thought I would ask the question since my version does not contain the caliper distance. I don't mind using the cartesian distance tool I just sometimes wonder about when to use the additional selections for the primary and secondary datum feature(s) and the parallel or perpendicular drop downs. Is there any literature or material out there on the proper way to use cartesian in this manner?

One thing that this leaves off is that if you don't specify the datums, in some cases, you get the 2d distance without the need to specify the projection plane. The caliper tools certainly add some extra options, i.e. max to min, center to center, etc., which are great improvement to Calypso.
[Do...]
Please sign in to view this username. it is unfortunate that my version does not have the caliper distance and adds complexity to some programs in order to achieve the same results.
