How accurate is AI ?

Recommended Posts

Well, our two Micuras (one 2021, one 2023) were both around 200k € (230k $), including the machine, the XTR-head, probe-rack, reference-ball and -probe, and 6 custom-probes, also the computer and software with options.

The machine itself, without anything, is listed around 90k, that is right.

I find the AI Overview does a decent job amalgamating information from lots of well-documented sources, e.g., determining the out-the-door price of a popular car model.

It doesn’t do as well when it’s paraphrasing the content of a single site.

Less so when that site was last updated in 2019…

Less so when the AI inexplicably swaps the Contura price for the Micura price… (???)

I knew the price wasn't right.😏

It's just one of many times an AI search was not right on many different topics. There is always a disclaimer at the bottom of every search saying that "AI responses may include mistakes".

Mistakes are costly and it worries me how many children and many adults who have not developed critical thinking skills rely on them.

All aside, the post wasn’t all in satire as we have a project that the Micura might come close enough in accuracy to satisfy, but it’s in the beginning stages and I won’t request a quote until we know the profit margins there.
