[Ke...] Posted June 17 Share Posted June 17 Question for Rotary Table users: For defining the RT Axis, I have only used the Actual Part (3d-line) or the Single Sphere method. I like these methods, because they are simple and the RT Axis is re-defined at the beginning of every program... is this excessive for in a well controlled environment? I'm thinking of picking up the Rotary Table Kit... What are the Pros & Cons of using the Invar Cylinders? I use a RT-AB on an ACCURA II Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
[Ch...] Posted June 18 Share Posted June 18 I think you mean the portable or moveable kit correct? You can still measure the axis on the part I believe, I would recommend it. If the Invar Cylinders you are referring to are just extensions with conical pockets, or similar; then I imagine the only mainly the material shaft compared to a ceramic sphere and steel shaft or the (assuming steel or harder) parts you normally measure. I'd say very negligible decrease in accuracy compared to RT A/B. I've seen one use on Duramax without too much issue. What machine will this be for ? I'm sure they've done testing. [M1...] Posted June 18 Share Posted June 18 We also use rotary table with small tolerances and diameter calculation when scanning with RT. We get big differences (up to 0,01 mm) if we not remeasure the RT-axis on the part in every program start due to the fact that the clamping will somewhat differ between each part. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
[Cl...] Posted June 18 Share Posted June 18 (edited) We align the rotary using the part. Measuring two cylinders 180° apart. Then Construct a symmetry from those for cylinders. My presumption is that, in theory: if the RT Axis is aligned and saved, then only measurement of the part for Base Alignment would be necessary(?)
