[Ra...]
Our tolerances have been open enough to allow us to use CAA qualification for all angles on all of our machines. We have a new part with tighter tolerances, so I want to qualify some of these angles specifically. Is there a best practice to doing so? Does it make sense to make a completely new stylus system for this? Or can I just add the specified angles and still use CAA for everything else? [Jo...]
Randawgg, Calypso treats an RDS stylus system separately from an RDS-CAA system. So, you will need to create a new stylus system without CAA to get the better accuracy even if you are using the same physical system. I'm not sure how using both systems would work if you're using a probe changer, because I've never tried that. I think it would require a stop for a manual change.
[Jo...]
Each physical pocket can only have one probing system installed into it. While you can set up probes that way, I cannot figure out how to write a program that uses both probes. I have to manually assign the version of that stylus I need to its storage location before starting the program.
[To...]
Please sign in to view this username. You can create what I have designated as "Ghost Holders". Let's say you have one physical 3 position XXT holder. I add a new stylus system holder. Then, define the location of the new holder using the original #1 holder. I put my standard configured probe in the #1 holder and my RDS-CAA configured probe in the #2 holder. When I want to switch from standard to CAA, it stores the standard version and then picks it back up as the CAA version. Obviously, this can cause some confusion so everyone has to be on the same page. Edited August 25
