Own Geometry for Outside Diameters

Hey guys, we just upgraded from Calypso 2020 to 2025. We have several structures that feature, rather loosely located, bosses. Due to their generous position tolerances, we were using "own geometry," with ample search and clearance, to find and probe them. Now, in Calypso 2025, the stylus is shooting straight for the center, as if it's attempting to do an INSIDE diameter check - yes, I made sure the feature definition was set to O.D. and not I.D. - this worked fine in 2020. Any help is appreciated.

Aside from it being a Calypso 2025 hiccup, what axis are you measuring it in, XYZ?

What type of head/sensor are you using, Vast, XXT, RDS?

A few maybe redundant questions.

Is the cylinder at an angle? If not, you might try changing clearance distance to 0.0.

Is the search distance before nominal position excessively large or too small?

Do you use position points in the strategy?

Could there be another unknown probe assigned in one of the strategies?

Does the clearance box adequately surround the part?

Has the alignment flipped or rotated?

Thank you for chiming in, Owen! To answer your questions:

As far as "which axis" most of the bosses live in the Z/Y plane, being approached and probed in X.

Head/sensor combo is a Vast XXT with RDS.

All bosses are normal to their respective axis - no angles.

Search distance before nominal isn't too large, usually set to the radius of the boss itself (10mm or so.)

No position or "move points" are being used.

No undefined or unintentional stylus systems are being used.

The clearance cube encompasses the entire structure.

While I have seen Calypso invert the strategy for features, this doesn't seem to be the case here.

To clarify, we use Own Geometry on some I.D. features as well - these are performing as expected. As a matter of fact, all of our 2020 measurement plans are running fine in 2025, except for this one issue.
