Line profile check and Inspection section check

Hello; Maybe this question is a bit strange, but it really bothers me a bit, I hope someone can help answer it:

When I want to know the real status of a curve, I use the Line profile check and inspection section, but the results are different.

thanks for your reply.

Hello,

The most probably reasons for your problem are

* You have done the inspection section not in the same alignment as your line profile. Sorry if this obvious to you, but you can create an alignment out of a datum system (look for alignment from coordinate system). Your inspection section should be computed in this alignment if you want to compare it with an line profile.

* Inspection section is computes from the nominal to the actual, line profile is computes vice visa.

If booth do not explain your differences you have to contact your local partner to have a look onto your project.

Best regards

Thanks for your reply.

  • for the line profile check and inspection section, both of them are under the same datum system.
  • yes, inspect section is computes from nominal to the actual, and line profile computes via curves

from my point of view, both different detection methods check the positional relationship between the actual curve and the theoretical curve whatever how the two methods are calculated, the results should be comparable.

Yes, they should be comparable (but not necessary deliver the same result). Therefore please contact your local partner to have an deeper analysis with the given project.

If it matters, then those two scans seems to be mirrored in one axis ( left <-> right ).

I would say that for section check will be sure that nominals are correct - i am not so sure for that curve - how it was made? Extracting curve from another software can have it's own problems ( model, origin, ... )
