Gage diameter in Sphere

I am losing my mind. I thought I had completed this before in a place far, far away.

I have a Sphere, and I need to set a gage diameter to establish the depth of the sphere from a plane.

Assistance always appreciated.

Measure sphere, create theoretical cylindar with .2340 DIA with x and y inputs from sphere, and intersect them?  should give you a circle (or two) that you can do distance to the plane.

Thanks for the link, why my brain couldnt see intersecting a cylinder to the sphere would produce the depth, I can't say. 🤫

How can I place an 8mm sphere( gage ball dia) in a cone to get the distance of the sphere to a plane?

You can try using intersections to get two opposing 2d lines and use tangential feature to place defined circle between them.

Or if you can intersect cylinder with a cone to obtain a circle. But you have to calculate cylinders radius from actual cone angle to get correct touch radius.

I have not tested fitting a sphere into measured cone data with restricted radius and tangential evaluation.
