PiWeb Profile Plots - Mirroring and Table of Contents

Hi All

Hopefully, I'm just missing a simple feature in the PiWeb Editor. We inspect a washer-like part, where we measure 4 line profiles at every 90-degree increments. Sometimes we may bump this up to 8 or 12 sections. After engaging further with the customer, I got a better understanding of how they digest the part. Their preferred method is to evaluate all sections together in one overlay so they can easily compare the deviation across each section.

I was able to produce the below. But my issue was that half of my plots were a mirrored image of the others. Is there an easy way to mirror the plots so they can all be shown in the same orientation? Seems like an easy ask, but I couldn't find any setting to flip orientations? Also, flipping the axis of the plot would correct the orientation to the desired result.

Alternatively, while I still like to get further insight into the above. I'm not sure if this is the best approach... as mentioned, we measure parts with increased sections. Would there be a process in the PiWeb settings to ensure that those plots are always in the correct orientation? I would like to avoid programmers having to go into the template editor in PiWeb since they are familiar with the interface. I also considered that within the profile characteristic, we can apply a special rotation to the profile so that all profiles are in the same orientation. This would leave programmers in the Calypso realm, where they are more comfortable. Thoughts?

Lastly, for the table of contents. Can you change the "In evaluation range" text to refer to the profile name instead?

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

For me it does not look like it's mirrored ( axis are same )
But you can edit your protocol template to have fixed view - just store this template into measuring program folder for having program specific template.

For legend - you would have to open protocol template and edit this view on that page. I am not sure what can be changed - i would guess you can remove it or hide it, but text will be something automatic.

Try it out

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure if we are on the same page. My goal is to mirror some of the profile plots so that all profiles are in the same orientation, so I can perfectly overlay them. See below.

For the table of contents, I was able to hide/add items but did not see a way to change the texts to a desired variable.

Martin, I believe you are looking at the coordinate system he put down in the bottom left.

It does appear to be mirrored. You can change the Projection Plane on the Profile Plot. If you are doing it from Calypso side, you will see it directly in the Profile Characteristic when you click to Plot. If you are doing it from the PiWeb side, it is in the settings.

Thanks! I have tried that, but it does not mirror the plot in the way I would think or want. Below is what happens when I mirror the plot. Automatic produces the result on the left, mirroring it corrects it to the desired rotation. We generally have to go in and correct this, so I had already attempted this method to no success.

Oh i know only PiWeb version - i should finish our transition to new pc and new Calypso to find new possibilities.

Would help evaluating on rotated alignment? I can not test it right now, but that it's only option. Create new alignment, leave it empty and just go to rotation.

I can do a special rotation on the profile characteristic to complete the desired effect 😅 I knew that coming in, but I was hoping for an alternative method than modifying a characteristic because I was worried about influencing the results. I have tried the special rotation and have not seen any changes in the measurement output, so I think I'm okay. But because I viewed the mirroring of the plots as a superficial change, I was hoping for more of a superficial option to make this change. Such as the projection plane or mirror option.

If anyone has suggestions on the table of contents and changing the labels, that would be appreciated.

Quick update - using a special in the characteristic worked without any issues or changes to the measurement. I have the plots overlaid as desired, but I still have the issue with the table of contents. I thought I had found the solution when I changed the color scheme to "Per characteristic." It makes the name look great! However, PiWeb will not allow me to change the color... so all the profiles would be blue, and it would provide the contrast that is needed 🤮 I was able to change the line type (full, dash, etc.), but still not the contrast that I was looking for.

The table of contents properties were very limited in what I could change.
