Green triangles on pre-edited meshes

Hello,

I am noticing a difference in the mesh appearance when I upload it after a pre-trimming operation (in Meshmixer). It shows some green triangles whether it is set as CAD or as a mesh. In the CAD view, it also displays the same red edges when I activate the boundary lines. Could someone shed some light on what this represents? Is it a defect inherent to exporting after editing in another software? Is there a correction procedure I should apply in these cases? If so, could it modify the surface? My goal is to compare how one mesh is distorted relative to another, so I am concerned that applying such procedures might affect the results.

Hi Nanno,

Thank you so much for your reply and link provided.

It follows an example. They are not shown if I upload the raw file, without pre-trimming. They also remain showing after applying the 3D comparison.

Could it fall into Fanfolded triangles category?

I tried to repair it however it encompassed a large area, more that I would like to modify.

Hi Martin and Nanno,

I am truly grateful for your help in clarifying what those triangles were and for the very useful link you, Nanno, provided.

Since my mesh had many small green (inverted) triangles, I found this tool in the same context of the link above, which was extremely helpful for orienting all of them at once. https://techguide.zeiss.com/en/zeiss-inspect-2025/article/cmd_mesh_automatically_orient_selected_normals.html

Once again, thank you both very much

Hi Bruna, I just realized I posted the wrong link - it was supposed to be the one from your post...
