Filtering for curves

When I started programming the person who taught me said to never use filters or outliers for curves.  I'm beginning to think that was not the best information.  What kind of filtering should I use for curves. Most of our curves are for cams with .0005"-.001" profile tolerances.  We also use it for forming tools with +/- .001" tolerances.

I had good results using the spline filter (if an open curve, gauss if closed) with the curve length /2 = the wavelength LC.

What exactly do you mean by "with the curve length /2 = the wavelength LC"

Pull the curve into Size > Curve Dimensions > Curve Lenth. Divide the answer by 2. That number will be your wavelength (Feature evaluation > Filter).
