How to create a max distance

I am wondering how to create a max distance between these two outside features that could be considered two ellipse, curves, arcs, or circles. I've made many attempts at curve distances or edge distances and slotted lengths and everything comes out slightly different or just doesn't work. Any advice on creating a max distance between two rounded features?image.thumb.png.e9e94997bc4240e809aca5f3f3ab37c7.png

I would use caliper disc from both sides to obtain 2 points, which can be then used for 2point distance

Hello Zachery,

I would use touching discs to measure the outer points (creating a silhouette before is also an option).

Best regards,

I'm having difficulties with the same type of measurements.
Could someone post a short video for how this is done?
Or explain more detailed?

Best regards,
Daniel

There is a difference between caliper disc and edge. But for edge you are defining edge axis.

What i do on problematic part:

  • select caliper disc
  • define in which direction you want to take it
  • define as small disc radius as you can - this will define your nominal position
  • now find and edit measured point ( green one )
  • adjust measured point by clicking on a model
  • edit radius to cover more area

I can not do a video of whole thing on free licence ( post edit limitation ), but i can try next week
It's not that hard since you figure out what is doing what.

One more a very usefull tool is Continuous curve distance.

When applying this tool, you can than activate the maximum deviation label and you will get the max distance!
