[Je...]
Hello Chaowei. I was having difficulty translating all of your text to English, so that I could understand your question. Could you please repost your question in text? It appears that you're asking a question related to clearance data and a similar feature for navigation in PC-DMIS. Thanks, and welcome to the forums. It's great to have you here.
[Ma...]
I have too problems with translating into meaningful text. I think on newer versions of Calypso you can not delete / not use safety plane, but you can have sub clearance planes, which are used defined. But if you are asking about complex safety path, then it's not easy to do it right and safe.
[Pa...]
I can't see it very well, but it looks like the normal vector of that feature is pointing "up" in the Calypso image (toward Y+ of the base alignment) Clearence Distance follows the normal vector of the feature. If you want to use your 2mm Clearence Distance you'll need to transform that feature so its Z vector is pointing the direction you'd like to clear toward. I suspect you're crashing on approach to the feature.

Since I currently use both Hexagon CMM and ZEISS CMM, I've found that Hexagon has many very useful features because they have optimizations for the Chinese market. For example: Arrays are independent elements. Safety planes can be deleted. Coordinate system functions.
[Ke...]
If I understand your request correctly, Calypso handles this through the use of Sub-Clearance planes. Features that share the same probe and Sub-clearance plane will navigate using the subclearance plane instead of the full primary clearance plane. There are 2 possible subclearance plane behaviors-1 in which you define a distance for that plane, in which case the probe will retract to that distance between features. The other is to leave the distance undefined, at which point the probe will move point to point without a clearance plane move at all (it still respects clearance and retract distance however). It sounds like the behavior you are looking for is the 2nd type.

[Je...] Posted yesterday at 04:16 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:16 PM Please sign in to view this quote. Hi Chaowei. I appreciate that you're trying out a new software, which can feel quite foreign and uncomfortable at first. I have many friends who are PC-DMIS programmers, and we have 'lively' discourse on the strengths and weaknesses of both software. Good news: All of the functions you mentioned are available in Calypso. 1. Arrays can be defined as independent elements by using the recall feature points option, or by using code to define a specific instance(s) in an array: circle-pattern(*) becomes circle-pattern(1), etc. 2. Clearance (safety) planes can be constrained or bypassed using the "block edges" menu. It is also possible to navigate by position points only (called 'move points" in PC-DMIS). However, this is rarely an effective choice, because one of the major strengths of Calypso is that it optimizes navigation, which saves loads of time for the programmer. Honestly, the main instance where I see people navigate by position points only is when they are former PC-DMIS programmers and their muscle-memory is screaming at them that they need to plan out navigation manually. 3. Coordinate system functionality is fully available in Calypso. Secondary alignments, best-fitting, and numerous other alignment types exist, and newer versions of Calypso make working in a particular coordinate system simple and intuitive. I encourage you to put time in learning Calypso. It will feel strange at first. You will miss the familiarity and muscle-memory of your previous software. However, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the powerful, feature-based architecture in Calypso. It is the most capable metrology solution for managing customer geometry and for creating an effective handshake between the CMM and measurement program. Please keep visiting this forum and asking questions. It's extremely valuable for Zeiss to hear the experience of other uses, especially those new to Calypso. [超伟...]
Please sign in to view this quote.
Please sign in to view this quote. Thank you very much for the PDF file, Martin. The methods in this file are exactly what I frequently use now, but they are too cumbersome. That's why I asked if it's possible to use approach/retract like in PC-DMIS, because this feature in PC-DMIS is extremely practical. However, CALYPSO 2023 does not seem to have this feature (sub-safe planes still require resetting between different elements, which significantly increases my programming time). Just like in PC-DMIS, many features have been updated and are very useful. For example: Arrays are easier to use than in CALYPSO. Safe planes can be deleted. Finding the nearest CAD element is convenient. The start and end points of circular path scanning are very user-friendly, whereas CALYPSO always feels rigid and not flexible enough to drag. PC-DMIS's text programming mode interface clearly displays detailed data, making it easy to modify. These are my observations after using both software packages. I am not criticizing either one; each has its own strengths and weaknesses. I simply hope they can learn from each other and update these features.
