Datum not computed during creation

Hello,

I'm currently comparing a CAD file and a mesh, and when I try to create datums points, I click on different planes on my CAD, but they all show up as "not computed" Do you know why? How can I fix this?

In all the videos I've watched, no one seems to have this problem

Surelly in video those steps:

  1. Prealignment
  2. Creation of points on CAD model
  3. Using them as RPS

After element creation you have to set measuring principle - unless you have created element via selection on mesh - but that way you would have only green elements ( not blue )

Also you can have disabled automatic refresh so you would need to recalculate manually to see changes.

Hi, thanks for your reply! This is my first time using inspection software, so I don't understand everything yet, haha.

The measurement principles are set up, and I can create my datum points, but I can't seem to get the results I want. Specifically, I need to compare a surface profile against a reference system. As you can see in the photo, I can check the surface profile without a reference, but once I have my reference point, the surface profile function in the GD&T Quick Creation menu no longer appears.

I have something more to do ? Maybe my datum points are not right ?

Well what i am used to do is making datum system from "Construct -> Local coordinate system -> Create Datum System" and "Create Datum System (nominal)"

You have more options there, but you have to do nominal and then the same without "nominal" - this will create blue and green alignment, which can be then used in Main alignment and as datums for profiles and so on.

Also you can do basic with "Construct -> Local coordinate system -> By Geometric Elements" - fill out elements - what goes first it takes whatever freedom it can
Now you can define mesuring principle ( Refferenced contruction ).

Now do as in this screen
