[Ma...] Posted yesterday at 05:16 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:16 PM I have a round part with a plane on top, think of a round disc. There is a slot on the part at -15 degrees that is a clocking feature. There is a basic angle from the center of the slot that says 75 degrees. Essentially this is sitting at -90 degrees. Then there is a hole that is called out at 35 degrees further, but that angle is to the far side of the hole. How do I draw a line from the center of the major of to far outside edge of the hole. Essentially the slot is at 4 o'clock. The basic 75 goes from 4 o'clock to six o'clock. The hole is at roughly 7:30 but the line goes to the left side of the hole instead of the center. [Ma...] Posted yesterday at 05:25 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:25 PM A sketch would be helpfull here. I would measure symmetry point at that slot. Now you can recall center circle and this point to make a 3d line used for clocking. Don't forget in special use rotation. Another thing is how to perform measurement in CNC mode, when your part is not always at same spot and rotation. I highly doubt that you will have any dimension to edge of a hole. But as i stated on first line - a sketch would be helpfull.
[Ma...] Posted yesterday at 05:59 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 05:59 PM I will try to put one together in a bit. But you are right it's not really a hole it is a radius that is the start of a scrollwork type pattern the swirls towards the center of the part. [Ri...]
You can use the slot as your Planar Rotation. You can also use Special option to rotate the -15°, so that your nominals match what is shown here.
[Ri...]
As for getting the outer tangent. I did a quick test, and here would be my first attempt. Measure the OD, and set that as the X,Y Origin. Create a Theoretical Circle that lives at X=0;Y=0;Z=(whatever height you choose to measure the end arc at);Diam=0 Measure the end arc. Construction - Tangent: Theoretical Circle and end arc Circle. Use either a Theoretical Plane/3d Line for the Centerline Measure the Angle between the two.
