Trigger ATOS Q via external source/software

We are currently investigating the purchase of an ABB CoBot for use at our facility.  One of the tasks we were hoping to use it for is automating repeated scanning tasks. 

Is there a way to trigger the scanner acquisition from an external source?  Ideally we'd like to integrate it into the RobotStudio program, but some other intermediary step would work to.

We understand that the GOM ScanCobot is the most elegant solution, but our hope is for something that can ultimately be used for more than just scanning tasks.

Andrea , whilst this is an interesting idea it sadly wont work out in a good way.  There is no smart way to trigger like this. The automation solutions from Zeiss with the VMR deal with a lot of automated aspects that are beyond just driving to positions and scanning.  For one think of a situation where the system needs to repeat a measurement ..there needs to be constant comms .  Whilst it seems cheaper to use another existing device my expectation/experience is that youll expend more effort attempting something that cant ultimately be supported by the OEM in a nice way and end up spending more money in time. Sorry this isnt a positive response.
