Zeiss should add a dialog box to enter the characteristic name prior to creating the characteristic. The pmiData.pmi file appears to be an xml file. I can edit the PMI file and rename characteristic names, not sure of the effect on tolerances and related features/characteristics yet. Don't mind my ramblings, I am searching for methods of characteristic creation that follows my characteristic naming scheme. A direct interface such as CALYPSO CATIA V5/V6 or CALYPSO CREO (depending on the database) is recommended. The CALYPSO STEP interface is now also possible (from version 2021). [Di...] Posted June 29 Share Posted June 29 Then maybe, if PMI becomes more important, a naming convention could be agreed on, so that there's no difference between the reporting and the naming in the PMI file. Nevertheless all customers that I've spoken with want to keep the traceability therefore they either use the naming that comes automatically when you create features in the CAD-software or they have special naming schemes defined in design and metrology so that no changes are required.
