[Ri...] Posted yesterday at 01:33 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:33 PM (edited) We may be getting into using PMI (Model Based Definition). Is anyone using this? Is there a STEP AP242 model available for training? Pros Cons Does Zeiss offer training? Edited yesterday at 01:35 PM

[Ze...]
The biggest problems I have with MBD is that you're relying on someone else to put the correct callouts on the model and you usually have to modify any auto-created feature strategies anyway. But then it's been a while since I've looked back into the technology.
[Ri...]
No STEP242 version available, but you can use the cadcube_PMI-named.sat file.
[Ri...]
First draw back I see that you can't rename the PMI entities prior to creation. Zeiss should add a dialog box to enter the characteristic name prior to creating the characteristic. The pmiData.pmi file appears to be an xml file. I can edit the PMI file and rename characteristic names, not sure of the effect on tolerances and related features/characteristics yet. Don't mind my ramblings, I am searching for methods of characteristic creation that follows my characteristic naming scheme. [Ch...]
A CAD converter is required to read CAD models that contain PMI data. A direct interface such as CALYPSO CATIA V5/V6 or CALYPSO CREO (depending on the database) is recommended. The CALYPSO STEP interface is now also possible (from version 2021). However, data information is often lost when reading in via the STEP interface. I only have Calypso 2020 💩 so I can´t use this tool.
