Measuring Actual data with no CAD

How would i take my actual scan data and show low/ high spots? I don't have CAD but is there a way to show flatness in a form of where the part has deviation? I understand the Flatness call out but being able to show something along the lines of deviation labels?

You could compare it to the mesh of a reference sample. You can load that as CAD.

for flatness this is possible like so:

• build an alignment
• build a plane
• check the plane for flatness
• go to properties and activate "show colour ..."
• put some deviation labels on if you like

Also works for other geometric elemnts

When i load it as a CAD model there is ZERO deviation. How would i show Actual mesh data having low and high spots without using CAD model?

When you load the same mesh as CAD it should show no deviations. Working as intended.

Thats why i mentioned a reference sample or master part.

 

To my knowledge, you can`t compare freeform without a CAD. The CAD is the information for the comparision.

Double-click the result. A window will open on the right side.
Display. Enable color display.

one of the options for doing it :

1 - import mesh as Cad body

2- Cad to actual Mesh

3 - prealignment

4 - select area for plane

5 - create a plane ( with measuring principle/ fitting element)

6 - evaluation

Basic GD&T (i.e. without Surface Profile, pattern and the other stuff where nominal data is essential to estimate TED) is also supported on actual data only. To do so, open your project, check that you have set your project as aligned



This allows you to use system elements without getting an alignment.
Create you GD&T checks, please use I-Inspect


It should work on the actual in the same way as on nominal.
Afterwards you can enable the deviation plot in the toolbox.



Now you can set picker or create min/max picker on the deviation plot. Of course the works for all other GD&T tolerances.

If you not want to use GD&T, you can construct primitives for your own and afterwards use deviation to primitive (found in the inspection sub-menu) to get your deviation plot.
