[Ma...]
Good morning, I have to apply a -0.065 offset on a STL, exept some parts of it. Is it possible? Link to comment https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/topic/27804-applying-offset-on-stl/ Share on other sites
[Ma...]
Operations -> CAD -> add offset Operations -> Mesh -> Special -> add offset I am not sure if that works for selected area, but you can remove selected area. Then only modifications to fill gap. [Ma...]
Thank you, but I don't find under Operation --> Mesh --> Special. I use Zeiss Inspect 2026. 1 Link to comment https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/topic/27804-applying-offset-on-stl/#findComment-157772 Share on other sites

[Ma...] Posted yesterday at 10:40 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 10:40 AM With offset is not possible to apply it only on some parts of an stl. This was my question. [Ma...] Posted yesterday at 10:56 AM Share Posted yesterday at 10:56 AM Then i would select area on mesh and press CTRL+DELETE to remove selected area - make a copy to clipboard and you can offset only one of meshes - then combine them. I am not certain if you can select area on both meshes, but remove one selection on 1st and inverted selection on 2nd mesh Link to comment https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/topic/27804-applying-offset-on-stl/#findComment-157842 Share on other sites
[No...] Posted yesterday at 11:52 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:52 AM It would help a bit if we knew what the mesh looks like and what area shall be offset and which one not. Cutting and recombining seems like a possible solution, but I wonder what will happen along the parting line. -0.065 is not a big offset, but despite that the meshes will not fit together properly at the parting line. Will that be a problem? Link to comment https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/topic/27804-applying-offset-on-stl/#findComment-157846 Share on other sites
[Ma...]
No, it's not a problem. I done it like you say: cutting the part I didn't want to apply the offset then recombining it. But my question was if there was some way to applying the offset only on a selected part of an STL. [Ma...]
It would take a lot of time, but perhaps it would be possible with python script. I got only to a point where it was generating measured points from selected section. I am not sure if you can modify mesh points directly.
