Inquiry about how to exactly select an specific area and cut the area in a component/part in Zeiss Inspect Optical 3D 2023 (free version)

In our process, we would want to cut a large cube with the dimension 12 x 12 x 12 mm into a 10 x 10 x 10 mm cube.

So after pre-aligning the parts and 'Local Best Fit' process, I select an area to cut using the 'Drag Clip Rectangle' option (remains at the bottom of the screen) in two different planes (for example YZ and XZ) to get the proposed cube.

With this method, I cannot cut the cube accurately as I have already explained and always has a little deviation of 0.005 mm from what I need which indirectly affects the accuracy of my result of surface comparison.

So my question is, do we have any alternative method or step to get accurate results?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

there is a selection tool "inside Cube" under edit -> selection in 3D. The selection will either select a whole polygon or not, so maybe you have to cut the mesh by curve (e.g. a plane based section) to get a very fine cut. After the cuts, you can select by patch and copy the mesh to another part for example.
